Well, Kanye West’s “Graduation” out sold 50 Cent’s “Curtis” in week one. According to Nielsen SoundScan the final score was: 957,000 copies to 691,000 copies.

Will 50 Cent really retire? No, he is not that stupid. Whether he lost or not, selling close to 700,000 albums in your opening week is a pretty good week, especially in these times of declining music sales.

However, 50 does have something to fall back on. I don’t recall him saying that the contest was for US album sales. See, it turns out the 50 Cent actually outsold Kanye West in the Europe.

50 hit #1 on the Europe Charts will Kanyeze came in at #3. Although Kanye did beat 50 in the UK charts also.

My personal opinion? I find Kanye’s album to be better and much more innovative. However, my favorite song off of both albums has to be 50 Cent’s “I Get Money”. That song is real street talk right there.

Sean Kingston’s debut album took the #6 spot by selling 74,000 albums in it’s first week.  The album is riding the success of the popular single “Beautiful Girls”. 

Keith Murray new album “Rap-Murr-Phobia” took the #52 spot on the chart selling 13,000 copies in its first week. Murray’s album features guest spots from Method Man, Redman and Tyrese.
